"Wedding Bell Blues" because of Chelsea and Marc

On July 31, 2010 the media event that appears to be the closest bridal occasion to the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles & Princess Diana nearly 30 years ago occurred in the Upstate New York town of Rhinebeck. The wedding of CHELSEA CLINTONand Marc Mezvinsky. They married in front of 400 guests under tight security that only the daughter of a former US President can enjoy.

Their $3 million dollar wedding ceremony at a posh estate along the Hudson River wasn't televised. The ceremony was "private". (Yeah Right!) Well it was as private as it could be if you were the only child of a former US President and current US Secretary of State.

Which brings me to a personal biased thought about the groom Marc Mezvinsky. Doesn't he realize that he is getting Hillary Rodham Clinton as a mother in law?

Thank you Ernie K Doe for expressing the closest thoughts I could ever have regarding Hillary Clinton. (Not a fan.)

But the real beef I have about this is that it is another publicized event of marriage that is only the privledge of a few. Chelsea is one woman, Marc is one man and that's the way most want it to be. Now if Chelsea was in love with Marcia instead of Marc this 3 MILLION dollar wedding could not take place at the posh estate in New York because that would not be allowed under current law.

Marriage Equality! It is what we want, in New York State, in EVERY one of the United States. And some of us are sick of hearing about these fancy weddings of public figures who enjoy a privledge that is intentionally denied to other consenting adults.

When big whooptee-doo weddings like the Clinton-Mezvinskys happen, many of us continue to have the "Wedding Bell Blues".

Wedding Bell Blues, a classic hit song by The 5th Dimension from 1969 as Marilyn McCoo sings to her soon to be husband Billy Davis. By the way, they have been married over 40 years.

The song was written by the late Laura Nyro, who also recorded her own version of the song.
